About Adam Bair

A few years back, I got sued over a credit card debt.

There was a real dispute about how much I owed, because of a chargeback. The bank wrote the account off and sold it to a debt buyer. Then the debt buyer sued me.

I was a lawyer back then, and I still had no idea this industry existed. I thought it was always the bank that sued people. I was wrong.

How the debt lawsuit business works

Here is what I learned. Debt buyers buy old accounts from banks for pennies on the dollar. They buy tens of thousands of them at a time. A lot of the time, they don’t get the paperwork they would need to win in court.

They sue anyway, by the thousands, because most people never answer the lawsuit. When you don’t answer, the company that sued you wins automatically. That’s called a default judgment. It doesn’t matter how weak their case was. Then they can start taking money from paychecks and bank accounts.

The whole business runs on two things. People don’t know how it works. And people are scared. Scared of court, scared they will lose. So they don’t show up.

Why I built Debt Dismissed

For a long time, if you couldn’t afford a lawyer, it was hard to fight back. AI changed that. I’ve been all in on AI since 2024, when I saw it could finally handle legal work. Now a regular person can learn the rules, find out what the company suing them has to prove, and hold them to it.

That’s what this site is for. The articles here are free. They explain how debt lawsuits work and what happens at each step.

Today I build AI tools for legal work, business projects, and teaching people how to use AI. This is the one I built for anyone in the spot I was in: sued, caught off guard, and not sure where to start.

What I can’t do for you

I was a lawyer, but I am not available to represent you or review your case. Debt Dismissed is not a law firm, and nothing here is legal advice. You do the fighting. You write your own papers, sign them, and file them. Every case is different, and no result is promised.

Before you go

If you just got served, take a breath. Being sued is scary. But a lawsuit is not a loss. The worst thing you can do is ignore it. Read up, find your deadline, and show up. You can do this.
